Bit 3's 466 SBus to A32/D32 VME Adaptor supports the interconnection of aSPARC-based workstation to any VMEbus system.The 466 consists of two printed circuit cards. One card is for the SPARC-based workstation and the other is for a VMEbus system slot. The twocards are connected with a round EMI-shielded cable or optional fiber-optic cable.Address mapping permits the SPARC-based workstation to directly addressVMEbus memory and I/O as though the SPARC-based workstation were a VMEbusmaster processor. The SPARC-based workstation can be a coprocessor or theonly processor on the system. Communication between the two systems is byrandom access 32-bit reads and writes.In direct mapping mode, up to 16 MB of VME address space is accessiblefrom the SPARC-based workstation as SBus memory. Page mapping modepermits the SPARC system to access 4 GB of VME memory in page sizes from64 KB to 1 MB.
